If possible try not to chop the stalks. Rolls need a lot of twine wraps b/c they will want to disintegrate. Moisture content, lower the better.

How do you get anything in the baler without chopping? Do you have any fingers left on the pickup when you're done? Don't understand, _everyone_ chops around here, I wouldn't know what you get? Just curious. If you have a big corn header, folks will follow just the 4 rows behind the combine, get more husks, but still they chop.

We have 0 combines in county, all corn picked with 1 and 2 row pickers. Run over the ground with disc mower, rake and bale. True it is hard on baler. Much prefer grazing stalks to baling but this year beggers can't be choosers on feed.
