I have seen 3 point hitch round bale spears that have a hydraulic cylinder and a type of mechanical advantage scissors effect that will lift the bottom of the bale 5 or 6 feet off the ground. I can not find them locally. Does anyone have the address or name of a manufacturer that makes these. Thanks in advance.

Hey Don,
drop me a email and I'll see if I can find the web site for them in the meantime. I think I know the ones you are talking about.

Three years ago, I saw _5_ of them at auctions that fall, pretty cheap. The past 2 years when I wanted one, I have seen only one, & that was bid up beyond reason. Figures.

I don't know the name, sorry. There are a couple out there tho. Didn't see any on the web site listed Worksaver?

Many folks get old forklift masts & weld up their own or have one made.

Yes, you would need a pretty solid tractor.

Do a search for "bale spear"on Google.com, tons of returns.

This is for Workdsaver, there's lots of others.

I've never seem them as a "manufactored unit". We make several in our ag shop. My guess is that they are pretty high liability for manufactorers to consider. That extra distence really calls for extra ballast on the fron tof a tractor. I'd check with local ag mechnaics dept or vocational school (b/c of soverign immunity) they are more likely to build one for you.
