Does anyone have any information on the Athens Plow Company? I have seen post saying they are still in business but cannot find a web site. I am in the market for a disk plow but as you all know they are kind of rare. Any information would be appreciated.

Got this from the McMinn County Tn. website:

Link

Athens Plow Company
P.O. Box 609
Athens, TN 37371-0609
Bill Willson/President
Product: Farm Implements
Employees: 25
Phone: 423-744-7569
Fax: 423-744-7218

Last time I went by there (about a year ago) it looked like they were still open.

Take I-75 to Tenn. exit #49. Go east about 5 miles - They are on the left, just in front of the big Mayfield Dairy Milk Processing Plant.

Athens Plow Co.
Athens, Tn

You might find a Farmall M with an HM-150 Disc plow. It is semi mounted, very heavy and difficult to mount, but will really do what you want to do.

Gary i seen your posting on disc plows. I live in southwest missouri and there is a lot of them still around. How big of one are you looking for? They sell pretty reasonable here at farm sales. If i can help you locate one would be more than glad to help. Archie

Where do you live? I live in Montana and disk plows and tillers are not rare out here. They are more common than moldboard plows.

Unfortunatly I am in North Carolina but hope to return to the farm just outside Nashville TN in the spring. I have been looking for a good disk plow for some time because the farm, for the most part, has not been worked in some time. The places I will be plowing will have a lot of roots and rocks and I'm afraid the bottom plow will not do the job.

I broke up a 30 acre alfalfa field with a 6 bottom JD disk plow and JD 820. It took me 2 days to accomplish this. I am used to pulling a 14ft chisel plow with the 820 so it seem to take forever. Worked pretty good except the power lift is shot. Had to use the bobcat to pick it up and place somewhere else out of the way. Sorry for the multiple posts.
