What can you tell me about a NH 660 round baler with auto-tie. 1992 model supposedly in good condition coming up on auction in a week, what would it be worth, what is the good and bad on these balers. THanks

That series is an excellent baler. I haven't used a 660 b/c I don't like a 6' wide bale (can't haul two wide on road (I paid DOT for a "lesson" in this). My dad bought a 650 first year they came out and I liked it so much I got one last year, too. I see 650's here for 9000-10,000 usually. Got mine a couple of hundred miles away for 7500 (not much hay shipped out of the area there, everybody wanted the 660's). Only problem I've had (and I would expect the 660's would too) is in really dry (<12%) hay with long, slick stems. Hard to form a core. Bales great from 14%-80% (baledge).

We have a NH 660 and a 664 both with auto-wrap. In my opinion they are very good round balers. We bale 4000 - 5000 big rounds a year in all types of conditions with very few problems and very few break downs. As far as price at auction I'm not sure. 1992 was the first year for the Roll-A-Belt round balers. I'd imagine that at auction it could be bought fairly reasonable since a great deal of the country is suffering from drought and it's a long time until haying season.
