Anybody out there using a Dearborn sickle mower?
I met a guy the other day who has one that he wants to get rid of. He ran an ad for it in the paper but no one was interested in it.
I could probably have it for free.
It's complete but needs some work on the sickle bar.
I've heard that these mowers weren't the greatest and so far been holding out for a Ford 501 mower.
But if I could have this one for free would it be worth taking? I would use it on my 2N Ford.
I really don't need more junk around here so if the mower isn't worth fixing I'll let him take it to the scrap man.
Thanks
I posted this on the N board too.

Ultradog, I had a Dearborn mower that was free to me, but was missing a couple of linkage parts. I sold it to a guy named Barry who lives near me and used to be a semi-regular on the N-board. He gave me $50 for it. Within 2 weeks he sent me an email saying he had it on the tractor and working. He was pleased with it. I have no other personal experience with that mower. I would say that if it's complete and free, take it! Who knows how long before you find the right 501 you really want? In the meantime you can play with this one and maybe even get to liking it! Then when you find your dream mower you can send the Dearborn to the next auction that comes along. Or post a classified ad here. Or drag it with you to a F/FCA meet where someone will kiss your feet for making it available.

Good advice as always from you Jim.
Thanks.
I went and got it. Read my post on the other board.
What does F/FCA stand for?

F/FCA = Ford/Fordson Collectors Association.
