Pulled the battery out of my 1965 Ford 3000 noticed a bit of rust and corrosion. I want to remove rust/corrosion and recoat the tray with a material/paint to prevent this from happening again.. All help appreciated

The only way you can really prevent battery corrosion is to get a sealed battery such as a "Delco" or "Optima".

Get it all cleaned up and painted then find a plastic battery tray like the early 70s' Datsuns had and put it on your rack. Plastic won't corrode.
