I've just acquired a '51 8N that came with a Ferguson plow, neither piece has been used in quite some time. The brass tag on the plow is barely readable, I can make out Type 14A, Ser. # 16739. It also has the number 14AO - 8000 cast into the inside of the 3rd point upright bracket. The front moldboard has the number 14A AO 112 stamped on the rear, along with a M-F insignia (Massey-Ferguson?) and has a hole rusted through (replacement moldboard?). The rear moldboard has the same number stamped, but has an oval insignia, with lettering too small to read (original Ferguson moldboard?)

Can anyone tell me approximately when this piece was manufactured? or where to look to find the info? Also, what color would this equipment originally have been painted (it's all rusted now, with no paint showing)? Anyone have sources for replacement parts?

I'd like to replace the one moldboard, clean it up, paint it, and put it to use. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks,

Sean

Your plow was made somewhere between 1940 and 1941, they were painted the same battleship gray as the Ford/Ferguson 9N tractor the plow would have been sold new with. Ford (now New Holland) still makes shares (Points) in steel or aftermarket shares and moldboards are available in steel or cast iron (if you do not have large rocks), the original moldboards would have had a HF (Harry Ferguson) in a circle near the number.
