I bought an old 501 sickle mower and have to get it working for the spring. I bought an operators manual from n-newsletter and was hoping it would show a parts breakdown. Looking at the mower I don't see any ledger plates, just the knife sections and rock guards. I can't tell from the manual (which isn't very clear) although it talks about ledger plates. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If it's like a New Holland mower, it may not have ledger plates. The sections cut against the edge of the 'disposable' rock guard.

The ledger plates are the small serrated pieces that are rivited to the rock guards. If the serrations are worn dull you can order new ones plus rivets from N.H. or from a parts jobber.Good luck.
