I have a 8' backblade. I believe it to be an older King Cutter but not sure. I bought used one layer of paint and it is red. It angles + pivots plus you can turn it 180 to go foward or backwards. While plowing snow the corner caught a tree and snaped the pivot bolt in two bottom part which is free has a castle nut and pin. The upper part which is still in the tubular frame is what I'm having a problem with. Does anyone know if it is welded in threaded in or a way to get it out? This is a 1 1/4 to 1 1/2" bolt or all thread that is sherd off 1/8 to 1/4" up in the tubular frame. Any help would be appreciated. We got another 27" of white stuff on Wednesday and it took me 6 hours to clean up with snowblower and I still need to push banks back.
Thank You, Dan

I've worked on 2 or 3 brands, though never a King Cutter; all I've ever seen had the king pin welded in; if it is, just get a torch and go to work.

thurlow,
This is thanks to all that post but yours was right. It had a double plate and looked like it went into the tube frame. After using tourch to cut bolt in haft I found it to be headless and welded to both plate. I could only find an 1" bolt and sleeved it out to 1 1/14". The only problem I have now is mounting plate is bent and I shear the pin for the angle adjustment. Guess I know what I'll be doing as soon as weather breaks. Thanks to all for suggestions and information. Dan

Are you sure that the channel / tube the bolt goes through is threaded? In the ones I've had the pivot tube in a straight tube and the pivot bolt is just that, a bolt. Often that bolts rusts in place. Check the tube if it is not threaded soak the bolt with penetrating oil and try pounding it out. Does the pivot bolt have a head on it? Can you get a wrench on it.?
Just some ideas to try.

It's probably threaded and normally I would recommend getting as large an "easy out" as you can find, drill a hole, drive in the "easy out" , and, using lots of "PB Blaster", try to unscrew the broken piece. However if it's 1 1/4-1 1/2" I don't know if that would be possible. You may need to take it to a machine shop and see if they can get it out.
