Looking for decals for NH model 55 rake. Any ideas? They are small and on the main frame. Old NH emblem will be hard to find.

Dale,

I have included a picture of my rake that is on the Implement Photos. The New Holland on the main frame was purchased from NH as the part substitution for the original number 33912. It does not have the NH in the shield but does fit nicely. I would love to find a good example of the original decal and reproduce but this was fine for now. You will love that rake in the field. I have literature that contains pictures of both style of paint jobs so let me know if I can be of more help.

What about tires? Looks like you might have replaced them. I need to buy some but they are pretty expensive.
Thanks for decal info.

Dale,

I will send you a email later but I wanted to answer the question here for those that will search this forum for answers. Yes, I put new tires on it because that is a pet peave of mine when I go get a piece of equipment and have to pump up the tire. Aggravates me to no end. You can get away with that rake using old car tires and they will work for 99% of the time. It depends on how thick your hay is as to whether you will need the extra traction. I think I paid $40 each for the tires that I put on it and since I paid about $15 bucks a tire for mounting it only made sense to me to do it right the first time. I have on two occasions needed the traction, once in straw that baled right at 200 bales an acre and in orchard grass that was so thick that I could only rake a 7 ft swath cut with the old 1207 MoCo I have. That hay would boil up over the top of the rake at the end but it raked it with no problem. I love the 55 and wish I had another one.

Jerry,

Are the teeth supposed to be red or yellow? I have one of those that my grandfather bought new and I started restoring after haymaking last summer. The teeth on ours were always yellow. Thanks for the information on the decal.

The teeth were all red on both versions. I have sales brochures for each and it would appear that they started the yellow teeth when they released the Super 55 which was all yellow and then when they released the 56 it was the classic colors we have now. My rake had a few original teeth still on it and they were red. Now NH has been selling yellow replacement teeth since the late 50's so your Grandfather might have changed the teeth completely and you only remember the yellow ones.

I have red, yellow, & green teeth on my 55. The red seem the oldest. I go through 20-30 teeth a year, raking straw in the bumpy fields, road ditch & drainage ditch hay... Cost gets to be more of a factor than the right color! :)
