Does anyone know who manufactures the implement which is used in the cane fields of south Louisiana to cut ditches perpendicular to the rows of cane. I have seen them from a distance and they appear to be 3PH mounted, PTO driven. Some cut the ditch to the side of the tractor and others cut it directly behind the tractor. It cuts a ditch about a foot wide with a curved bottom and the dirt is thrown to the side 5-25 ft as a fine dirt spray. I want one to help cut drainage ditches in some low pasture land.

Thanks in advance,
Charles Begnaud

Glencoe makes a good one that is centered behind the tractor. Most of them I've seen in South Louisiana were made locally, probably by Cameco. The gearbox angles to the right so the cutter follows the tractor wheel. Call Schweitzer International in Jenerette LA. They can send you in the right direction or sell one to you. Or call Paul Jones in Jenerette and he can tell you where he got his.

Look at tricorpusa.com. They list ditchers exactly what you describe.

I think this might be what you're looking for. Don't know anything about them, just saw this one Land Pride's web site.
