Converting an old combine

Anyone have experience converting an engine-driven pull-behind combine to a pto drive? I have a line on an old John Deere with an engine, and if the engine works, fine, but if it's stuck, maybe I could convert it. I don't think it would be that difficult - I'd need a coulping for the combine end, a shaft (w/ telescoping shaft), a couple of brackets with bearings to support the shaft, and a coupling for the tractor end - basically like a baler. Any thoughts???

Motor even if stuck is worth 10 times what the rest of the combine is, if need rebuild the motor

FIX THE ENGINE FIX THE ENGINE. I had MH Clipper, a real good combine except that it was a pto drivin combine. I have a AC All Crop the same way with pto, andive had these streached out over a 30yr period, and I never liked the pto drive. If you are turning, you lose power due to the inertia involved in runni9ng the vcombine pto shaft at an angle. If you bog down in a wet spot the combine will bog the tractor down causing it to lose the power needed to pll itself out. When your emptying the bin you have to leave thew tractor run on the high side instead of letting it get a breather for a bit. Whenever the combine slows down, it slows down the tractor also causing loss of power when ou may need it most. If you have a bunch of grain on your table, say milo, and the tractor bogs down, the grain will jam the table then you havre to stop and clean it out, back up and start again. With an engine you can turn corners slow enough to keep the combine in line and lot leave little strips and the combine runs just as fast as it does on the straightaway. If you pull into a wet spot and the tractor bogs down the combine keeps right on ticking. I have a bailer with an engine on it and I wouldnt trade it for a new pto bailer. I pull the bailer with a F-30, but I pull the combine with a CC Case as it has a faster pto speed which I feel I need n the combine. But I have to be careful as the CCs wheels are smaller dia and narrower than the 30 and I can get stuck pretty easy with the combine eating away at power reserves. Fix the engine, youll thank me later if you do a gpood job on it

neighbor has an old pull type that is pto driven. Most of it is shot. Doyou need parts for yours?
What model is it?

It's a John Deere 25. The older gentleman who owns it claims it ran good when he shedded it, but who knows how many years ago.
