3 pt. hitch question

I am putting a set of stabilizer bars on the 3 pt hitch on my Ford 4610. I am missing the brackets that go on the lift arms and am figguring on fabricating new ones. My question is this, do I need to make these brackets adjustable where they attach to the lift arms to allow for different widths between the pins on various 3 pt impliments or are all factory impliments of the same catagory the same width between the pins for the lift arms. Thanks

I like the chains mounted to the outside of the draft arms. That way you can leave them a little slack for most work and easily hook and unhook to implements without messing with the chains. Most of the bars I've seen are either slotted or multi-holed for different width tools but I'll stick with chains.

They are supposed to be at a standard distance for each category (ie: Cat 1 are 26" I think), but it seems many manufacturers ignore this. Standard rigid stabilizer bars may not work if your implements are not standard, and you may have to use the chain and turnbuckle method.

There is a standard width. Most manufaturers are within an inch or two of that. There will always be enough slop & extra pin length to allow for this, so if you get the right measurements, 90% of the implements should fit.

most have a "turn buckle" in the chain or some other way to ajust them. The tools just aren't at a std. distance apart!! Robert
