Hello:

I hope someone can help. I have come across an antique Superior Grain Drill. I have been searching the net for it's value but can only find early metal ones. This one is made all from wood. Any ideas on value or where I can find info on the net? Thanks in advance for any help.

You say its all made of wood, and I know that is not right. I have an 1876 Grain drill, and at least 1/3 of it is made of metal. I have a 1924 McCormick Deering grain drill and it has a wood box only with steel wheels. I take it yours has a wood box, are the wheels wood too? If so that would make it worth more. If it has wooden wheels, than it is probably a Superior Grain Drill. If it has Steel wheels, it is probably an Olver superior grain drill. You need to mention the piece of equipment thourly to us if you hope to find somone interested. Does it have the grass box? Thats the little box on the frout (usually) for sowing grass seed. Mine didnt co me with it and you can sow grass seed in the main box, abiet it sows a bit heavy

Superior ended up being part of the Oliver corporation. You might want to post this question on the Oliver board

I doubt you will find anything giving absolute values. I have a couple pieces old horse drawn equipment and am always looking to buy more if I can find inexpensive pieces. Such equipment regularly shows up on ebay but most of the time it is too far away for me to go pick it up without costing more for travel than the piece cost. Most of the stuff goes very cheap or does not meet the reserve price, probably because of the problems is retrieving it. Prices vary a lot, with anything John Deere pulling the most. If you are just looking for a value, you probably won't find it. If you are looking to sell, decide on the minimum you would take for it and either advertise locally or put it on ebay with a minimum. At least you would get an idea of how much interest there is in it.
