Dragged a free Ford baler home today. It has a 2cyl Wisc on it. Baler is model 14-76 Wondering if it is worth repairing. Fella that originally had it and left at field I got it from just had it repaired and they left off a keeper or cotter key and it came off and bent some arm while baling, I'm guessing it is for the plunger. This arm is bent. Is this repairable? Is baler worth it? Knotters were covered from rain. and engine is loose. How about cost? I can afford to spend what it cost to have my hay baled last year Thanks Joel

Sure wish I could find an affordable old baler around my area. Everyone is using large square balers, but you can't find any old small square one's around.

I have a 14-80 that we have used for 3 years. It is not as fast as some newer balers but is a good baler. We have never had trouble with the knotters and it will tie sisel or plastic twine. Also in three years we have found 2 parts balers I have parts in SE Alabama anything you need email me there are more of thease old balers around than you think and they are good balers

I am assuming that you are not a collector and intend on actually baling some hay with this machine.
In our area, you can buy a good functional older square baler of one of the leading brands like a New Holland 68 or a John Deere 14T for $200 to $300. I would recommend checking local values.
Square balers are kind of obsolete as most everybody is round baling these days.
Ford balers are hard to come by and parts from the dealer will likely be unavailable. You have the alternative of finding another junk baler for parts or some of the boneyards might have parts. The bone yards charge enough for parts. You could have more than $200 or $300 in parts in a hurry. If it was me, I would forget about this baler and buy a leading brand already in working condition.

Sure wish that were the case around here. Haven't seen a baler listed for anywhere near that price around here. Haven't decided what to do with this one yet, but yes I want to bale with it. Thanks for the replies. Joel

Where are square balers obsolete? Not where I live. Put up 6000 bales a year and sell 'em all for $2.50 to $3.50 a bale at the barn depending on quality. Add .75 per bale for local delivery. You can't give round bales away.
