I recently bought 10ft Howse rotary cutter. Someone had evidently had a way too much horse on the thing and broke the main drive shaft into the gear box. I got it mostly apart---but looks like I will need to get to a press to have the shaft removed? and then have the new one pressed back in? ---or is there a trick I'm not seeing?

I have a 7 ft. one and a 10 ft. one and have had to work on both. Don't remember having to press anything off. Look for a hidden snap ring. They last a lot longer if you put some good Timken bearings in them instead of those cheap Chinese. You can get parts for them directly from the factory in MS if you don't have a good dealer close by.
