IH blades on a JD#5 mower?

I have a complet box of replacement IH serated blades I pick up on auction. I took one out and put it up aganst the ones on my JD #5 seemed to match up exactly. Would it be ok to use these?

kelly the sections fingers knive backs and even pitman parts will interchange between jd and ih and several other brands on the older mowers also much horse drawn will fit too

Be sure to check the thickness of the blades/sections.

blades. Do you mean the sickle sections. If the holes match perfectly, they should work.

I will grind one of the old ones off tomorow and compare. I hope they will work. That will save me quite a bit of Cabbage from the cost of new sections.

Kelly, if you have the sickle out of the machine. support the main rib and hit the section you want to replace with a hammer. you will need to hit it twice, once for each rivet. The rivets will shear right off. look on down, was a very good discussion a month or two ago, here
