Is it safe to sharpen Bush Hog blades and if so how ya go about doing it. Rhino (manufacturer) says no cause it will throw them out of balance.

In my rocky conditions, I usually break them before I need to sharpen them, however, if I break one, I put on a new set and save the old one. When I break another one, I'll take the two old ones and sharpen them. The balance thing IS a consideration, tho not particularly critical in my experience. I made a simple balance-beam scale that I hang on a nail. When sharpening, I hang a blade on each side of the "scale". I then grind one blade or the other until it balances. It's worked for 11 years without any detectable damage to the gearbox from vibration.

Well, I do. I keep them sharp to decrease the work load on the gear box as well as the PTO on the tractor. It works better, cuts easier and requires less fuel and maintenence. Someone will have a reason why you shouldn't, I'm sure, and I am not telling you that you should. I am just saying that I do and why. Lets see what everyone else thinks.
