I am looking for advice on herbacides that will kill persimmion sprouts. I need to spot spray fence rows and scattered sprouts in my pastures. I have been brushhogging these fields for 30 years and they always come back. I have an applicators license. The local Coop said they had one type poision but I think it is about $150 gal. I thought someone may have a solution for my problem. I want to make sure the soray really works before I buy it. Thanks!

I have used Grazon and Remedy with varied success. It seems to kill other hardwoods well but knocks the leaves off the persimmion-then a few months later they leaf out again. Maybe I need to mix it a little stronger. Thanks again.

Don, Persimmon is WOODY plant so Round-up will not do anything to it , it is strictly a grass and broad leaf "contact killer" Here in Central Texas ,Remendy w/ Diesel works well! But my knod goes to Crossbow w/ Diesel. So I agree with Jim Snow up in Kansas. The above tank mix will knock the thunder out of Mesquite .

Good Luck,
John A.

Remedy is probably your best option. It doesnt require a license. I mix at 2% for spot spraying. When mixing the remedy should be mixed with a surfactant before adding water. Runs about $85/ gal.

Unless you're in a state like New Jersey, that requires you to have an applicator license for any chemical, regardless if it is labeled restricted use or not. That's right, I need to have a license to spray RoundUp.

I second Wes's opinion; contact the Extension Service. I've had good luck with "Remedy"; don't recall off-hand what the price is; none of 'em will be cheap.

I have worked in the ag fertilizer and chemical business for 4 years and my advice is to contact the county extension service for your area and see what they say. If I was to give my 2 cents I would use round-up in the fence rows and Tordon to spot spray. The tordon is pretty expensive stuff but Round-up is not that bad.

I have never used it before. Might have to try it on some pasture this summer.
