a 40 blade disc would be more in a 12' size, look for more of a 10' size

Sandy: A good heavy duty disc with 16 to 18 inch blades will take just about 1-1/4 hp per blade. You will find most 40 blade discs are going to be in the 10 foot width range. Probably a bit wider as disc spacings today usually run between 7-8". I don't think you will save much hp in sandy soil as discs tend to go deeper in light soils.

When I say heavy, look them over heavy bearings arbor bolts, spacers and discs well worth the few extra dollars. They will cut well without added weight. Sure you can throw rocks, concrete and wheel weights on light discs to make them cut, but the repairs will be up. Changing bearings and disc blades is not a fun job.
