I know of 2 one bottom IH plows, which look a lot like my 2 bottom little genius plows. The clutch, levers, tailwheel, etc. all look a lot alike. However, in my Lil genius manual, it doesn't show a one bottom. Did they ever make one? If not, any idea on a model??

Mike

yes they did make one! I have Living proof of one. It is a One Sixteen. I probably have the same manual you do and mine doesn't show it either. That doesn't mean they didn't make one. it is really easy to set up to plow with.

I was thinking I saw an ad in a farmall book that said a 10-20 would pull a 1-16 plow or a 2-14. I also saw a F-12 ad that said it would pull a 1-14 or 2-12. It was a couple years ago so I may be wrong on this. I have seen one, single bottom IH little genius plow though. It was a 1-16 on steel. They have to be scarcer than hens teeth! As a lot of farmers were increasing crop field size when they got a tractor ( they didn't need the large pastures to feed the horses)I could see that most farmers would want a larger plow to be more efficient and would opt for the 2 bottom. Being fixed on the frame, they also made for a cleaner plowing job than a one bottom.

FM: The book I have makes no mention of single furrow Little Genius plow. I have checked Nos. 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 15. In all cases it listed bottoms available, but no one bottom. There were single bottom Little Wonder plows however Little Wonder do not have tail wheels.

In looking pictures of these plows over, I could see possability of modifications, thus adding the Little Genius tail wheel to a Little Wonder It would also require the Little Genius left wheel lift mechanism. I will put it this way, I wouldn't argue with anyone that said it could be done.

Mike: No one that I can see in this discussion has suggested No. 8 Little Genius 1 bottom doesn't exist. To date no one has posted a picture of parts book, manual or sales literature tieing the manufacture to IH. It could well be a No.3 Little Wonder with a Little Genius tail wheel added.

It might be a model 3, Little Wonder. They come in one bottom and look something like a number 8 Little Genius.
