I am interested in buying a flail mower for a 35hp tractor and would like to know which manufacturers are thought to make the best flail mowers.

Thanks

Tiger in Sioux Falls, SD, makes the toughest; much better than Alamo (Mott).

Mott (now Alamo Mott). Good but expensive.

Just out of curiosity why a flail mower instead of a disc mower?

they are 2 totaly different machines, a disc mower is for cutting hay, an flail mower is for mowing where ya want it mulched up. they have all different types of flail mowers, some are designed as a finish type mower and are only for cutting grass,my father found that out the hard way when he destroyed his first flail mower using it to cut brush. they have other flail mowers that will shred a cedar tree in seconds, those are the type most of the highway crews use, they dont cut as fine but will grind up most anything including rocks and tree stumps.there are many different types in bettween these two extremes, right now we have a MOTT mower that is made for a little rougher cutting but still wont grind up very much brush, but it does cut nicely

I have a 72 in. Caroni flail mower at work. It is built very heavy and works very well. Caroni is Italian and they make all kinds of acerage type equipment. Good Stuff.
