I have a dearborn disk and have decided to bring it up to working condition. Everything seems to be OK except the bearings. The carrier is split into halves and I suspect it had wood bearins from searching the archives. I have never seen a wood bearing to know what one looks like, but the archives indicate they are easy to make. Are they, and if so how would one go about making one. Otherwise are they availabe from a source?
Thanks in advance

From the picture it appears that your disc is a Reversible Bush And Bog Harrow model No. 11-34 if it had 20" blades, No. 11-36 if it had 22" blades.
111044 Spool, Bearing
111043 CAP, Lower bearing
111042 CAP, upper bearing
Above numbers used on model 11-34 prior to serial No. 5761 and model No. 11-36 prior to serial no. 3269, following parts used after these serial nos.
110968 Spool, bearing
110990 Cap, lower bearing
110969 Cap, lower bearing
parts are all steel, no wood with a 5/8" by 5" hex head bolt holding together on a 1 1/8" axle shaft. Email if you want full parts list, $.20 for full list plus postage

Years ago I had a Dearborn mounted tandem disc, and it had split carriers, probably like yours, with a cast iron bearing on the shaft. The bearing had a series of rings around it, to hold the grease in and keep dirt out. I replaced the bearings once in its lifetime, about 25 years. Had to keep it greased good or they would squeal. This disc was about a 1952 or 53 model if I recall. I believe the older ones from the 40's had wooden bearings, probably hard maple or oak soaked in oil
