I bought a 37 rake and was wondering how do you engage the gearbox? Just bought it and haven't had time to mess with it. Also about what years were they made. Has 6 bars and looked like it would pick up short hay better. Thanks Bob

I'm not familiar with the 37. I had a 36 for a few years and could tell you about that. Maybe the same principles apply. First off, on the 36 there is a crank in front of the rake that raises and lowers the basket. When you raise the basket it pulls on a cable that is attached to the gearbox lever disengaging it. Then when you lower the basket, the gearbox is engaged again.

Also, the 36 is a tow-behind rake, ground driven. There is a small lever on the inside of each wheel that disengages the wheel from the driveshaft to the gearbox. I don't know if the 37 is a ground drive or pto drive rake.

I may have an old dealer parts book for that rake if you're interested. I bought a whole slug of Ferguson and MF rake parts books just so I could get one for my DEO 25. The others will be on ebay soon unless someone needs something in particular.
