Im just getting into the hay business. I have a JD 4430, JD 430 bailer, and an 8 wheel rake. (Notice anything missing?) I need a cutter. Plan to cut mostly costal in central texas. Debating between a 3pt disc type cutter with no conditioner, and a JD 12ft sickle type with conditioner. I cant make up my mind and my hay is getting tall!! Please give me and advice/pros/cons.

Thanks
Heath

I would go with the 3pt disc cutter. If your only cutting costal it really does not need to be conditioned. The disc cutter will also be faster. I recomend the Krone disc mowers they work great. If you want faster trying time a tedder would be better for costal than a conditioner.
