Trying to use a 2 row horse drawn planter to plant sweet corn Would this be a model 999? Any ideas to sprocket setting, there a 3 that looks like they hook with the corn boxes. Have no idea of the plates, nor do I have but one set. There is a setting for 2,3,4, does that mean 2 kernels? Any help would be appreciated. No help on impplemant alley. Russ

How many cells are the plates you have now? 16, 20 or 24? I have a 999 manual, I can tell you what gear with what sprocket will give what population with that plate. 2,3,4 means that many kernals in a hill drop. Drilling corn it means something else.

I have did some checking, and I have size 16 extra small plates. The chain is on the middle sprocket, and the seed drop is set at 2. I have not did a test for spacing on the ground. Maybe tommorrow morning, baring more rain. I disked up 20 rows today that was planted too deep, followed by 40 degree nights and 3 inches of rain. Information given to me is that for super sweet corn the soil must be at least 55 degress and not over 1.5 inches deep. Does this sound about right? Thanks for your help.Russ
