I have an old potato planter that as far as we can tell, is about 95 years old. It still works great and I use it to plant about 150 lbs of potatos a year. The fertilizer system had rusted out years ago. I just finished building a bolt on fertilizer attachment that runs off the original drive sprocket. (my invention fits down inside the old fertilizer bin and didn't require altering the machine, I like to keep things as original as possible) I used the mechanism of a Ford 309 corn planter to meter the fertilizer. The sprocket I got off the corn planter has 9 teeth and every thing works great, but I would like to get the fertilizer to run faster, this would require a smaller driven sprocket. There is a local farm equipment junkyard that has 75+ acres of machinery, the problem is, I don't know where to start looking. Does anybody know of some implement that takes a No. 32 chain and would have a sprocket that fits a 5/8" shaft and has 6 or 7 teeth? If I know what to look for, I should be able to find one in the junkyard. Thanks
