I just finished planting my vineyard and now need to do a little cultivation in the alleys to kill weeks. The rows are 10 feet on center, I have an IH 140 with disk harrow, and cultivators. I may leave the alleys untouched, except for mowing down the taller weeds. Does anyone have a reccommendation.

thanx

Planting rye between the rows would keep erosion down, and then you could keep it mowed. You could spray for weeds by the plants later as needed. Haveing grass in there would sure make it a lot nicer for checking the vines later on too. This is how the big orchard growers do it here, and it may work well in your vineyard too. Robert
