I just picked up a Ford 540 baler, needs work on the pickup guides that carry the hay up to the auger. And the center bearing support on the PTO shaft. It came from the origional owner and he gave me the origional owner's manuel. I will use it behind my 1951 8N. Will use it on my five acre's as a hoby. Frank Fox, Sacramento, Ca.

Another FBBA member! (That stands for Ford Blue Baler Association). It's a loosly organized (?) group of "dare to be different" types. Jerry D is the chairman and will be in touch!

Jim.UT who is slowly resurrecting a 542 for use behind his Ford 850.

I will let you know how lucky this duck is after I cut and smash and generaly bang up the body putting things in order on the 540. You are right, when I bleed, I bleed FORD BLUE. Can any one tell me how much this thing weight's? I had to tow it over three hundred miles to get it home. It towed fine, dident know it was behind me at fifty five miles per hour. Started towing it at thirty five MPH and ended up at fifty five. I would like to find a parts manuel for it, any suggestions? Thanks, Frank in Sac.

New Holland sells reprints of almost all old Ford and Dearborn stuff, so I'd start by calling their publications department at 800-635-4913. I've found they're fast and friendly, and all the manuals I've bought from them have run around $8-$12.

Not familiar with your specific baler, but my old small square balers both weigh in at just over a ton each.
