Hi all
I need to find a stump jumper for my 5 ft bush hog. It is red, but very rusted. Can't find a decal or nameplate anywhere. The gear box has Auburn Ind stamped on the back and 3K16 in cast raised letters on the front where the drive shaft comes out. The rear wheel support is two pronged where it comes off the tractor. The prongs are attached where the 3 pt hitch supports connect in the middle of the deck and go back to join just over the wheel. I mention this, though it is hard to explain, be cause I have seen pictures of 'hogs' with only one support going from the center back to the rear wheel. It may narrow down the manufacturers.

Sounds like a King Kutter from the 1970's. They were red during that time period. Auburn Gear (formerly called Warner Gear in those days) made gear boxes for several brush hog companys.

I just pulled my neighbors old hog out of the trees. It is a Lilliston 'Right-O-Way 6'. I'm going to put the gear box on a Right-O-Way 7 as it was originally the same as the 6 footer. Both of these mowers are Lillistons, and the gear box says "Warner, Auburn Ind." I need to check with Bush Hog (who at some point bought out Lilliston and then discontinued them) to see if the oil seal might still be available. I have checked with numerous dealers and they all say gears are no longer available.

Make sure your mower is either protected by a slip clutch or a shear pin. Neither of these mowers had any protection. That is why the 7 footer's gearbox exploded like a bomb: nothing salvagable. If yours is like mine, the gearbox has a front shaft which I think matches the tractor pto standard 6 spline shaft. TSC sells a slip clutch which will fit right in there for $90. (Female six spline on the back and six spline male on the front.)

I recently had another gentleman tell me he had a mower like these and his gear box was also destroyed. There is no way you can mow very long without a clutch or shear pin and not destroy something.

Yes both these Lilliston mowers are red. Like International red. Also, neither of them has a stump jumper.

Let us know if you have any luck finding any sort of parts. I would think if you had to you could modify any stump jumper to work.

Farmer Jack,
Here is current info at Auburn Gear. The lady there said that in the 80's the 90 degree angle gear business was sold off the the company I list below as Agri Parts. Not sure about the name yet but the lady there referred me to Chuck, who was out to lunch. He didn't call back. I called back and couldn't connect with him. I'll try Monday.
