Just wanted to know if anyone could clue me in on the manufacturer of this 7' sickle bar mower. The following number, 450874-R1 is stamped on the frame. It has traces of red and yellow on it. Any info as well as manuals I can obtain would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time.

Sorry for the cryptic way I left out details to help ID this unit. This was in the field when I first posted and now I have it home after a bath. Hope this new info can shed some light on it's true identity.

What I now know....
1. Steel channel frame with a pitman arm driven 7' sickle bar with MC 2041 cutter guards
2. PTO pulley with M 257 number stamp
3. IHC stamped in various locations
4. Metal screwed on tag bearing the number 450874-R1
5. The unit is mostly red. ( The yellow was a cabbaged on gusset to support the raise / lower traveling ram ) 6. Rear wheel is four spoke with a tire that measures 4.00 x 12.00 (Firestone)

Now that I have ascertained that it is a IH product I need to know the model so as to obtain the appropriate manual. Again thanks to all for your knowledge and time in assisting me in this quest to put yet another piece of "old iron" back in service.

27-V might be a 25 -v, but with the r1 part number I would think a 27-V for sure.

Thanks Bob, I found a picture on another forum and indeed it does appear to be a 27-V. Versus a 25-V would the only difference be the length of the sickle ( 5' or 7' )??? All in all I think most of the equipment is intact and will now search for a manual. It'll be nice to get it set up right and back in the field. Thanks again also to to all who shared their input.

That number could be just a part number for that particular frame part. Are you sure there's no id plate riveted to it anywhere? Red and yellow says New Holland to me, but I've been wrong before and will be again (and probably am now!). Any chance you could post a picture of it?

That number is attached via 2 standard screws, so I thought that might be the ID tag. The New Holland color scheme occured to me also as did Minneapolis Moline as they had some things painted in these colors.(I put this question on that forum also). I'll continue to look further for other numbers.
