I have a hay rake that I have used for several years after I drug it out the bushes. Never was sure of the make or model. Found the ID plate today. It is a Dearborn Model 14-42. Anybody ever hear of these? How old is it. All I had to do to it was put new tires and wheels on it and break loose some stuck parts. Works great.

Eric,
The 14-42 was the last of the Dearborn side delivery rakes made before changing the name to Ford. If you are interested, the N-Newsletter has the A/O manual in their archives for the 14-42 rake.

Dearborn was the Division of Ford that made implements. I don't remember when they quit using the name, but as Jim.UT says it was around the late 50s. I had a Ford 503 rake, I believe similar to yours, and was the best I've ever had until I smashed it into a half-closed gate while I was daydreaming one day (that's sure embarassing to write, and makes me mad at myself all over again.). New Holland still sells parts for it, but the cost of the needed parts was about 3 times what I'd paid for the whole rake so it is sitting on the edge of a field gathering brush. What a shame.

I don't have any specific info on that rake, but Dearborn implements were marketed through Ford Tractor Division in the 40's and 50's if I'm not mistaken. I know by the 60's the Dearborn name was dropped. I'm not sure Ford actually made all the implements that carried the Dearborn name...it could be they had some other implement maker manufacture them for sale by Ford tractor dealers.
