I just got an Avco New Idea 290 MOW/DITIONER, cheap, in pretty fair shape, but was told it needs some work. Does anyone know who might carry replacement parts. Dealers, aftermarkets, anything, it's in to good of shape to scrap or part out.

I purchased a New Idea Hayrake sn#R175454
Model# R258 No 402
I think it is missing a bearing cap and would like to know if I would be able to get a user manual or parts manual for the rake.

Cut/ditioner's are pretty simple machines. Replacement blades are available from Shoup and probably several other catalogs. Bearings and chains are readily available generically, Napa etc.

New Idea is part of Agco so if you can find an Agco dealer that used to sell New Idea would be one choice. Used to have a 535 Ford that was made by New Idea and bought parts from New Holland dealer for it. Might be easier to find parts from New Holland.

I don't think Ford ever marketed Cut-ditioners.

A 290 Mow/Ditioner is a 9' sickle machine, AKA Ford 535 and MF 91 Haytender. A 279 Cut/Ditioner is the flail-type unit that you're thinking of.
