I have a kewanee 610 disc I would like to replace the front smooth blades with notched blades to bust up my wheat ground to plan summer pasture in. I do not know how to figure out what the original disc blade size was. I measured a few blades at around 18-19" around, but was told they probably have worn down quite a bit and that is not the original disc size, I don't have a manual for this disc, how can I figure out what the original disc size is for the disc.

Has anyone ever tried planting sorguhm/sudan in wheat stubble, I don't have a no-till drill so thought I would try this.

The Kewanee 610 disc was sold with an option of 18"(9 gauge)20" or 22"(8 gauge)notched blades. My guess would be that you had 20" blades on your disc. So you could put 22" blades on if you wanted to. Also that disc was offerd in either 7 1/2 or 7 7/8 or 8 1/2 inch spacing. Yours probably was 7 1/2" spacing.

How do you find this stuff out. This is stuff I'd like to be able to look up on my equipment, is there a magic book somewhere or website? THanks, agman

I worked for Kewanee. I just happen to have some books on hand.

If you are measuring them at 18-19 inches, then your original disks were probably 20 inches, unless the disks are very badly worn where 22 down to 18. What is the spacing of the disks? Give us more information about the equipment.

disc blade spacing is 7 inches. Would it hurt to put on 22" blades if it had 20" before and the 22 fits ok. Thanks.

Shoup has a lot of replacement parts for all makes of disks, maybe they can help. They have a web site, not sure but try the obvious?

I'd give a wild guess, 20 or 22" blades? Many disks had options for different types of blades, so might be hard to say what it had to start...
