Need info on 461 New Holland haybine. The shaft coming off the main gear box at left rear of machine. There is a pillow block and bearing located at the right hand end of shaft. Question is orientation of pillow box. One side of pillow block has tabs around bolt holes. Does the side with tabs go against mounting frame of machine or does plain side?

The 461 I have has the tabs facing in towards the gear box. I think it would work eather way that bering position can be adjusted on the shaft. when you position the gear box so that the belts and chane drives are alighned than set that outer bering so that it is some what close to the end of the shaft.

I just bought a 461 Saturday. I am out of town for the week, but I could look at it and let you know. The one I bought has like new rolls and reel. The tin is shot though. Where could I get pictures or a parts book, etc for this beast? It sounds like it was one of the best ever made, and with the parts in the condition they are, it should last on our 25 acres of hay forever.

Hugh? Ernie? any ideas?

Thanks!

Pete: I am surprised you don't have an answer on this. I had a 460 which is basically the same machine, rollers are only difference. I traded mine off 25 years ago and cant remember answer to your question. Try and get Ernie Bob's attention, he currently has one of these machines.
