Been looking for a different sickel bar mower and have seen a lot of 501 Fords out there. Can someone tell me about them- hitch, dependability, going rate for used one, etc.

Thanks

Not sure if I can use the 501 mower on my 1120 tractor. I can mount on the 3 pt but not sure how the extra link works. Looks like I could get longer lift arms and adapt it to this small tractor. Any thoughts?

Don't buy one unless you have a ford tractor from the hundred series or on back. We run one with a 960 Ford and it works great. The reason I say not to use it with another tractor is that they are made to bolt on to the three point a certain way to self adjust when it is lifted. The only way one would be able to use it differently would be it they got the bottom arms off of an old Ford tractor and put them on the other tractor.

Hope this helps Adam Davis

Actually, when our 960 went down for a while we adapted the mower to a 300 IH 2-point tractor, so anything is possible.... ;) But putting it on the proper 3-point is a _lot_ simpler.....
