I have used a super 8, two spinners, for sixteen years and have only had to replace a tire and some tines. Bought it used without the basket and paid $ 750.00. It is easy to adjust and except for grease it is mantainence free. I am looking to sell it and buy a larger Grimm tedder.

I bought a four spinner one several years ago as a backup for my Kuhn tedder. It has become my fulltime tedder, and the Kuhn is backup. I would buy another if I needed one. The belt drive is simple and reliable. I take the tension off the belts when I store it for the winter, and keep it under cover. Most of the parts are stock industrial bearings or assemblies welded out of standard steel shapes. That said, if you are buying one, make sure the belts are in good shape, the two short ones are about $100 each, and the long one maybe $125. The wheel/tire assemblies are a sore point, you have to keep them tight, or the wheels wobble on the hubs and ruin both of them. The company has come out with a new design with a welded in hub that fixes this. I use this tedder on about 80 acres of Vermont hill farm every year.
I deal directly with the factory on parts, G. H Grimm Company, Rutland Vermont 802-775-5411, ask for Don.

I've used one of those tedders for the last eight years. The belts do have to be kept tight, but it only takes a few minutes. One thing, you have to slow down on the corners or the outside wheel, going faster, will throw the hay into the next windrow. Wind will do that too, however the height of the kick is easily adjusted. If it's windy just barely lift the hay. I found for best results the windrow should be flipped first so the ground dampness is on top. I put a hitch on the back of my wheelrake to pull the tedder so I do it all in one trip, with all but two or three wheels chained up.
