I called a place today who sells new and used farm equipment. They have some brand new 6' finish mowers. I asked him twice what the brand name was and he said something like "SpareRex" or "SpareVics" for their rear discharge mowers...something like that or other. Does anyone know of a namebrand that sounds familiar to this? I hated to ask him a third time becuase I couldn't understand what he said. Figured I could find out online. A search turned up nothing.

They also had King Kutters, but they are side-discharge. I think I'll really want a rear discharge, but....does anyone have a strong preference? I would think a side discharge would get in the way of a lot of things, and leave a strip of dead grass down the yard. Thanks,

Sparks???

As for rear-discharge vs. side-discharge, I'd really like to try a rear-discharge.

However, the only time I ever have trouble with my 6-foot KK mower is when the rain comes for long enough that the grass gets to be 7 or 8 inches tall (WAY taller than I should be mowing). Then the bar across the bottom causes the side-discharge chute to clog (right now, the chute is off the mower but I'm planning on removing this bar and re-installing the discharge chute). 'Course, that tall of grass tends to make the blades skip anyway but at least I can mow without going to first gear. I haven't had any real trouble with killing grass -- the discharge spreads pretty good.
