I just purchased my first old(er) tractor. I'm looking to setup the machine for a 3pt hitch but am having trouble figuring out how this is done. Its a 1957 International 130 and it just has a fixed drawbar on the rearend. Can anyone help or is this something thats not able to be done. The hydraulics and pto work great. Was the original setup a 2pt hitch that used a bar from the hydraulic lift to raise and lower the implements and if so, can this be adapted for a 3pt??

Jon: The standard hitch on that tractor was just the U shaped drawbar. The optional hitch was a single point fast hitch. The single point hitch is far superior to a 3 point on that size tractor for items like plows, cultivators, rear blades, etc. It is however not very suited for using the pto on items like mowers. Three point hitch will work much better for that. If you have the rear rockshaft between the rear fenders its very easy to go to a scrap yard, buy lower links from a light tractor like a Ford or a Fergie. You can put 3 point mounting pins in the plates your U shaped drawbar mounts on. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask. I have 3 of these tractors and have 3 single point fast hitches, 2 U shaped drawbars and one 3 point hitch. I use them all as it is very easy to switch from one to the other, depending what I am doing.

Hugh, thanks for the post.
I plan on purchasing a bush hog mower for this tractor and think a 3pt is the way to go. the current setup is just the drawbar without a single point hitch. I really need the whole setup.
What would it take to set this machine up with a real 3pt hitch and how much $$ will it cost??
You might be my wealth of info since I dont see too many of these machines around.
Thanks again.
Jon

I think Saginaw makes 3 pt hitches for 130's. I think it will cost you about $700 new. There is a web site. Do a google search. Or you can try making your own as Hugh suggested. Before you buy a hitch, make sure the hitch does not get in the way of the offset PTO and your mower.
