Does anyone know where I can find (other than a salvage yard) the clamp that fits on the end of the pitman of a 501 mower? (attaches the blade to the pitman) If you can tell me whats its called that would help too, never had to buy one before. Been looking through the catalogs and websites but can't find one. Thanks in advance and keep 'em running!

Thanks everyone. Think I will look for another dealer. The one close to me told me they were no longer available. Thought that didn't sound right, to many of these old shakers still around.

NH sells that as all seperate pieces so if one clamp is broke you can just buy that.

Call your NH dealer. I had mine break (worn out) and I got it welded back together and working. Out of curiosity I asked about a new one and found out it was less than I had paid for the welding charge. Around $25 if I remember right. They are common wear items and still readily available

you better try salvage yard
new pieces will set you back some
but not to loose heart, I'm thinking that most brand pitman ends would work. just the if you have a stick with predrilled holes they might not be right. Just check for leingth and register.

Thanks. Compared it to an old IH mower we have laying around and it appears to be an exact match. Figured all the mfg. bought from the same vendors. I would like to buy new if it doesn't bankrupt me because I figure all the ones in the salvage yards would be a worn out as the one I have.

Dad got a green (JD) set on the 501. The one thing missing was the finger - so if you tip the bar up vertical, the sickle will slide down onto the ground. Watch for that.
