I have a friend that has recently bought some land. While clearing some trees, he found an old sickle mower laying against a tree. He could get the following info from it and was wondering approx age, type of tractor it would usually be associated with, value, etc....no photo as of yet, he does not have a digital camera. I hope to get out there in a week or so to get pics.

One ID plate has "Detroit Harvester Co"..the rest is illegible

Second ID plate has Ferguson Type-6A-E0820 No. 1931.

Thanks for the help!

That sickle bar you found: I have the same one and I have a manual for it. The model number is 6A-EO-B20. I am working on mine right now after ten years in the barn - what a trip. It took me a week just to find the belts!

Same mower was also sold under the Dearborn Name by Ford with Ford red paint and their own tag, some had just a detroit harvester tag, some just ferguson, some just dearborn, some with both a detroit harvester and either dearborn or ferguson tag, detroit harvester also made mower for J.I.Case

If it is a model 6AEOA20 it was sold through Ford dealers from 1945-1947 for a model 9N tractor or if it is a model 6AEOB20 it was sold through Ferguson dealers later in 1947 for a model TO20 tractor, working ones are worth less than $100.00 because they are hard to hook up and can't mow banks.
