I got this rake in a deal with a hay baler, got the rake for nothing. The baler the neighbor wanted to give it to me, but I told him I would pay for it. Gave $100 for a IH 25, it does work pretty good only missed a couple bales.

The rake needs a little work, but I have all winter to get it ready for haying. Would like a little feedback on it.

Here's the picture.

I have one like this, Also the forrunners of this rake: the Deere-Dain, the Deere 3 bar open gear, the 3 bar closed gear, all I am missing out of the set is the 494 (High wheel), have used this 594LW, mid 50's or earlier (Older than the parallel bar that everybody thinks are so good), Also New Idea and David Bradley of same configuration, Would prefer to a parallel bar(Don't like them) Have bought and hauled (300 mile) several for my Amish friends and have rebuilt some with more to go

Hey Bob,
Never seen one like that before or at least I don't remember it if I did. You might come out ahead to try to locate you a NH 56 or the JD model of the same years. You could probably locate one for around 500.00 and you might save yourself alot of work. I have 2 NH 56's and a twin rake hitch I made myself. I'd be glad to email you a picture if you would like to see it. For my money you can't beat a New Holland Rake and parts are not as high as Deere as well. I kind of backslide on that statement as I have 2 Deere tractors a Deere 530 round baler, Deere 346 square baler and a 1380 Deere hydroswing and now a Deere 2280 Self Proppelled windrower so I'll get my share of Green parts prices. I'll stay with the red and yella rakes though.

If you have any slope to your ground be careful when coming downhill & turning onto the slope. The castor wheels will send the rake straight down the hill. Makes it hard to keep windrows straight. Has a tendency to crab on the slope too.

I have no idea what the model is but I had the same experience When I bought my 300 utility the man said take the rake.It is exactly the same and I have welded it back together a number of times but it still works great and this will be the 20th year I have used it. dave
