I finally found Dempster. They faxed me some material to help identify what i have. [402-223-4026 direct to Dempster.] Turns out there are 3 basic configurations at minimum, based on year model. early 65. late 65 to 67. Then a conversion kit for those to go from 'flat drop' to 'edge drop', as in later models Flat drop has 4 spikes coming up off the drive gear to the seed hopper. Flat drop plates have holes for the seeds. There ar two half moon cut outs in the plate leaving about a 1 inch web strip throught the center. The later Edge drop model uses the JD plates. It has a cross shaped drive piece that floats in the bottom of the hopper, and is in the center of the plate. The latch plates to keep the seed plates in place are also different. One has a recess in it, the other does not and is flat surfaced. Of course my seed cans have one of each bottom plate. So, now i will have to go back again, and try to swap for the bottom plate on the remaining can at the salvage. At least i will have two of whatever. :-) Making an adapter to use with existing 8 inch plates that have holes should not be at all difficult.. fwiw, these are Heavy planters.. :-) Later, Larry
