I own one of these side delivery rakes and am looking for the proper JD part number for replacement teeth. My dealer can't find this model in his computer and doesn't stock any teeth which match the ones on the rake. One after- market supplier has them as "JD-1" teeth but the quality is poor.

Anyone ever heard of this model? I am wondering if it was sold in different markets under different model numbers? I am in western Canada.

I have a JD 851 side delivery rake what is maked LR 2 on the sn tag. The model number isn't on there at all. If yours is the same it is semi integral, that is mounts on the 3 point or drawbar on the front and has 2 or 4 car size wheels in back with an arch frame. The L may be for raking windrow to the left. It is the 850 series. If the arch part is yellow it is probably a 858 if it is green probably a 851. Teeth should be the same and come in various configurations. Originals were probably rubber mounted. Originally these were supposed to be indestructable and JD would replace fro free ones that broke. Can't seem to talk my dealer into doing that any more. Anyway according to my parts book , tooth 257se was used on the 851 and on the 858 up to sn 87200, it is all metal and held on by a clip that holds 2 teeth clip number G6760 it is a double clip. Have seen single clips but perhaps they were home made as not shown in parts book. Accoring to my parts book the rubber mounted teeth were used only on the 858 but have some on mine so they fit, there were 2 types, aAE11188E that is a stud used on 858 from 87201 thru 88950, other type has a bolt through the top AE12156E and were used on later 858s. Some of the second type rubber mount have been used on my 851. Rubber mt is about 2 times what the all metal ones cost. You can get them at farm stores also, best way is to take one with you and match it. Any other questions e mail me. I have used my rake for a number of years and it is a good one.

Thanks for your very complete reply, Dan--from what you describe my rake is an 851. It has two rear wheels and a green arch frame and throws the hay to the left. The teeth are all metal with each pair held on by a clip as you mentioned. I am going to forward your information to my JD dealer and see if they can track down some genuine teeth. What did we used to do before we had great information exchange places like this board? Thanks again--AW

After you pin down your model for sure, order the Operator Manual, and Parts Manaul. This will assist you in the future. The manuals are essential for proper maintenance.
