The local farmer that cut my hay for the past several years sold his equipment. After several phone calls I have been unable to find anyone else that will cut my 7 acres of hay & I need the hay to feed my Bison. Therefore, I am now in the market for a "reliable" 7ft or 9ft haybine & a round bailer in good condition that won't break the bank. My 1st, 2nd & 3rd equipment choices are New Holland, Case & JD. What I am looking for is some guidance on what models to purchase. I don't want to find out later that the haybine I purchased is known to have transmission problems & the baler has frequent belt failures. So what equipment models would you look for ?

Were I buying new I would buy either a New Idea disc mower or discbine (new). If I was getting sickle (and used) would think a NH 474 haybine. Balers, I like the late model NH belt balers, 640's or 650's. It's tough to do 7 acres and anything like break even over buying hay.
