Remove the bolt to the rear and right of the knotter which is giving you problems. You will then be able to swing the entire knotter up. As it swings up, the bill hook and knife arm run through the exact sequence they go through to tie a knot. You can watch the knife arm to see that it comes in 'contact' with the back of the bill hook. If it does not, the knots will hang. You should also check to see that the wiper part of the knife arm (stripper flange )goes past the end of the bill hook between 3/8 and 1/2 inch at it's farthest point of travel. Hopefully you didn't just start bending the knife arm in everywhich direction. If they are bent too badly, it's easier to pay $40 for a new one than to try to bend it back to it's original shape. If you have to bend it, remove the bill hook cam, remove the pin holding the knife arm, and as the knotter swings up you can remove the knife arm. You should only tighten the spring/nut on the bill hook cam until 2-3 threads are showing. Knots will also hang on the bill hook if the twine discs are not advanced properly. If they are retarded too far, the tails of the knots will be too long, and will hang on the hook.
