I recently bought an automatic bale wagon which picks up bales lying on the ground. The problem that I have is that my John Deere 14T baler ejects the bales out through a chute and when the bales hit the ground, they are lying flat (strings up) instead of on their sides (strings on the side). The automatic bale wagon requires that the bales are lying on their sides. Does anyone have a simple trick to use to flip the bales as they fall? Is there a commercial unit which I need to buy to perform this feat? Please let me know since I am already tired of walking around the field flipping all the bales!

We made ours from scrap laying around the farm. Make sure you have something on both sides of the bale as it turns, other wise it will roll right over when it hits the ground. We used a narrow (maybe 9 in. wide tray coming about half way over the chute for the bale to slide on as it is egressing the baler. We had a plate of light metal on the LH side of the bale chamber to act as a guide as the bale got out and started to roll to the left that would guide it so it would not roll all the way over. We would run this chute low to the ground at the rear end of it to prevent bales from jarring and rolling as they hit the ground and the chute pasted. Worked great! Would set them pretty as a picture for the Stackliner to pick. Need more info. email me.

That anti-rollover deal is worth doing. On our NH68, half of the first section of the bale chute can be taken off so that the bales will roll as they exit the baler. The chute is split longitudinal down the middle and is bolted together.

However when things get a little vigorous the bales will roll all the way over.

had the same dilemmma with my massey ferguson baler, we ended up fixin it the farmers way, CHEAP, found a piece of 6" angle and bolted it to the bottom of chute, offset by the same amount, when the bale comes out of the chute it rides on the angle until it is all the way out at which time it just rolls off it.

Warren,
I know NH makes a 1/4 turn bale chute that simply attaches to the baler in place of the standard chute. It is made for this very reason. I'm sure Deere makes them and if for some strange reason they don't, I would say that the NH could be made to fit your 14t. Hope this helps. Casey
