Tandem vs. offset disc?

What's the difference, in function and performance, between an offset disk (2 echelons of disks) and a regular tandem disk (2 V's of disks)? I have seen some of both for sale, and don't know if I should pursue the offset disks or not. I have several acres planted, and need to disk the soil occasionally. Thanks for the help.

Sometimes an offset disk is made more aggressive, bigger and heavier. I made one 6 feet wide to use with my MF-135 by remounting two gangs under the middle of the frame of a 12 foot disk. Worked well and loaded the tractor fully.

You can turn an offset disk without lifting it, in one direction. You can break disks on a tandem turning either direction sharply without lifting it.

A tandem tracks behind the tractor, an offset disk tracks to one side. That can be handy in an orchard for getting the disk further under trees than you can drive the tractor.

Three point disks for a small tractor tend to be too light to accomplish any real work. Won't dig in.
