I recently found an old buzz saw, red in color with yellow lettering stating: MAX SPEED OF MANDREL 1200 RPM E77-NO.40, also No. 40 appears on the table. It's stationary, not 3pt. or otherwise mounted. Any ideas of make, I'm thinking David Bradley or Massey Harris maybe? Thanks, AG

Any Massey ones I have seen have the symbol on the babbit bearing cap beside the grese cup.

AG, I have a Sears buzz saw, the tag says it is a model 700.140 which has been the type of number Sears has used for years, it was red too. I guess this doesn't mean yours isn't a David Bradley. No speed limitation noted on mine. This wasn't much help was it? Bob

I got to thinking after reading your post that every piece of Sears/David Bradley machinery I've ever seen had tags on them, and I couldn't find any rivet holes where it may have been. Long before my time there was a Tractor Supply store about 2 miles from here and it may have come from there. Could be from another short line company from 40 or so years ago. Thanks,
AG
