I have a b46 baler. Does any one know how much tension is needed on the knotters? we sharpened the knives so they cut and are not a prob, but it only tie's every second bale or so. we are runnning it slow revs like was suggested in other posts but it still doesn't seem to fix the prob.lem. the only thing i can think of is that the knotters aren't tying the knots tight enough because they keep coming undone. any suggestions?

My guess sharpen the twine knifes. If the twine isn,t cut square the twine knifes are dull. Dull twine knifes will leave twine partially un cut and untie the knotts. Also running these old balers to fast will cause them to miss tie. Run tractor about a third of the way open throttle. I have run these old balers a long time and know that you can,t run them at pto speed just won,t work. And what the others have said is correct also. Are the twine bills worn out? If they have a grove worn in them then it is time the replace the critters. They can be gotten at case ih dealer not cheap but solves a lot of problems. Wishing you the best.

First thing is to get and/or read the manual. You'll need to describe what or what not it's doing in order to have any clue as to your problem. I assume it's a twine baler. Is there no knot, knot on one end or the other (which end) or both, etc., etc.? There are many possible things that could cause it to mis-tie. HTH.

Including old twine that got damp, brittle, or.... In adition to the above, try new twine balls.
